LUBBOCK—Jose Angel Barrientos, age 79, of Floydada, Texas, passed away peacefully dealing with pulmonary fibrosis on April 21, 2021, in Lubbock at Covenant Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Floydada Cemetery.
Visitation was held from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Jose was born January 4, 1942 to Salvador and Leandra Barrientos in Balinger, Texas.
Jose was a ginner for 35 years. He married the love of his life, Janie Barraza, on May 5, 1969. They had four children: Joe Barrientos, Jr. who is married to Noelia; Peggy Aguilar, who is married to Pedro; Pat Corona and Miguel; and Matthew, who is married to Bertha Jose had 13 grandchildren and one on the way, and six great-grandchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Leandra Barrientos; his brothers, Manuel Barrientos, Trenidad Juarez, Steven Juarez and Manuel Juarez; and his sisters, Virginia Love, Elena Cisneros, and Francis Juarez.
Jose is survived by his wife, Janie Barrientos; two sons, Joe Barrientos, Jr. and Matthew Barrientos; two daughters, Peggy Aguilar and Patricia Corona; and a multitude of Juarez and Barrientos family members. Jose will be truly missed and was loved by many.
