LOCKNEY—Joventina “Ama” Hernandez, 76 of Lockney passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Father Bill Anton, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, officiated.
Interment followed in Lockney Cemetery. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview.
Arrangements were entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Joventina was born on August 8, 1944 to Miguel Sr. and Emelia Delgado in Kyle, Texas.
She married Domingo A. Hernandez, Sr., on December 16, 1958 in Lockney.
Joventina has worked in agriculture as a cotton researcher most of her life. She was a member of San Jose de Calasanz Catholic Church and was a Guadalupana.
She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Joventina is survived by six sons: Edward Hernandez, Domingo Hernandez, Jr., and wife, Tammie of Lockney, Robert Hernandez and wife, Jovita of Amarillo, Mike Hernandez and wife, Christina of San Antonio, Dickie Hernandez and wife, Rosalie of Lockney, and James Hernandez of Denton; six daughters: Anita Cisneros and husband, Raul Sr., Dolores Mendez and husband, Francisco of Kyle, Gloria Cerbantez and husband, Johnny of Plainview, Melissa Lopez and husband, Jonathan of Lockney, Rosa Salazar and husband, Samuel of Lockney, Nicole Hernandez and spouse, Ricardo Luna of Lockney; one brother: Miguel Delgado, Jr. of Kyle; two sisters: Argentina Heysquierdo and Ernestina Romero; forty two grandchildren; forty two great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
