LOCKNEY—Ricardo Rendon Luna Sr., of Lockney, Texas, left us to join his heavenly father and his wife on March 1, 2021.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Lockney. Interment followed at the Lockney Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Lockney. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
Ricardo was born February 7, 1939 in Hondo, Texas, to Gilberto Luna and Teresa (Rendon) Luna. In 1952, he moved to Lockney, where he met his wife, Yolanda Luna, and raised their family.
Ricardo worked for the Lockney Cooperative Gin. He started in 1969 and retired 34 years later in 2003. He was their mechanic and semi-truck driver. He worked on all their trucks including diesel and gas trucks (eighteen-wheelers and module trucks).
After retirement. most of all he loved being with his wife, kids and grandkids. He enjoyed watching Western movies. Every morning he would drink coffee at Lisa’s Restaurant with his friends, reminiscing about the ’50s. He also enjoyed driving eighteen-wheelers for the Lockney Cooperative Gin part-time and working on their commercial trucks. He loved having lunch with his sisters after church on Sundays.
Everyone who knew him knew he loved spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. His grandson, Ricardo Luna III, said,” I remember he was always in the passenger seat of the truck and Gilbert was always driving.” He would also enjoy taking his grandkids to school in the mornings. No matter what time of day or night he, would always answer the phone. He would always love telling his life stories from Hondo and Knox City, Texas.
Ricardo will now be joining his wife, the love of his life or as he would say, “My Bride” Yolanda Salinas Luna (she joined our heavenly father on May 20, 2020); his parents, Gilberto Luna and Teresa Rendon Luna; his siblings Abelino Luna, Natividad Luna, Maria De Jesus Cuevas, Maria Sanchez and Olga Fierros; his children, Melissa Molina and Ricky Molina; and his grandchildren Luis Martinez Jr., Luis Molina Jr., Gia Molina and three great-grand-children.
