Special for The Hesperian-Beacon—
On Sunday, Feb. 7 the First Baptist Church of Lockney will have their annual Winter Bible Study.
Dr. Randy Rogers, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Wayland Baptist University, will be teaching on the topic of “Heaven” from the book of Revelation.
There are wonderful images of heaven recorded in the book of Revelation—all of which have their roots in the Old Testament. Three sessions will be utilized to take a close look at John’s vision of heaven.
At 9 a.m. there will be a snack breakfast in the FBC Garden Room.
At 9:30 a.m. Session 1 will begin. This session will be a review of Revelation 4-5 and the images of heaven, along with a quick look at Revelation 21:1-8.
Session 2 will take place during the regular morning worship time beginning at 10:45 a.m. This session will look at the coming of the Great City of God to Earth.
A noon-time break will be taken for a quick lunch. The church has a tradition of having an Old-Fashioned Chili Cook-Off on the day of the annual Bible Study. There will be several choices of chili and sides available to enjoy.
After lunch the concluding session will cover the final restoration of creation in Revelation 22:1-5. There will also be a time for Dr. Rogers to answer any questions at the end of this final session.
Dr. Rogers says, “I am looking forward to our time together. I pray this will be a “heavenly” experience for us.”
