FLOYDADA – Floydada Superintendent Dr. Gilbert Trevino is proud to announce that J.R. Compton has agreed to become the Head Football Coach at Floydada Collegiate High School.
Trevino said, “Compton brings with him a wealth of experience having been a teacher and coach for 30-years at the 2A, 4A, 5A, and 6A levels.”
Compton comes to Floydada from Lubbock Coronado High School where he serves as an assistant under Coach Parr.
He graduated from Hale Center High School in 1984 and went on to play football at West Texas A&M University in Canyon. Compton went to football camp with the New York Giants in 1988 where he played running back.
Coach Compton has two children Meagan and Jarrod. Meagan is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, and Jarrod who currently attends West Texas A&M University in Canyon where he plays football.
“Floydada Collegiate ISD is proud to have Coach Compton as our football coach and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our program and student athletes,” added Dr. Trevino.
