Glass named Sweepstakes winner
By Teresa Bigham/The Hesperian-Beacon—
MUNCY – The Floyd County Junior Livestock Show Scholarship winners were announced before the Stock Show Sale last Saturday night. This year’s scholarship recipients are Hunter Lefevre, LHS senior, Audrey Rexrode, LHS senior, Kalebh Cook, LHS senior and Ryder Glass, FHS senior.
Each of these high school seniors will receive $1,000 from the Floyd County Stock Show Association. The Sweepstakes winner Ryder Glass received an additional $500 scholarship.
This program’s purpose is to reward the years of hard work and dedication by the high school senior exhibitors who have shown at the county stock show at least three years in high school. Each student submits an essay along with an application which is then judged by a third party.
Since 2002, the scholarship program has rewarded stock show participants from Lockney and Floydada high schools who plan to continue their education at a college, university or trade school.
Through 2021, 118 graduating seniors have received scholarships totaling $92,000 with funding provided through the support of local and area businesses and individuals.
