LOCKNEY – This holiday season may be like no other due to COVID-19. This pandemic has affected the communities in so many ways. Lockney Salvation Army will be hosting a drive-through toy drive on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church.
Lockney Dollar General and Happy State Bank have graciously set up drop off boxes to accept new unwrapped toys for infants through 5th grade. Toys may be dropped off at one of these locations until Dec. 18.
Lockney Salvation Army will not have Santa visit due to COVID-19 risk, but the food pantry is available by calling Denise Doucette at 806-729-9494.
“I am happy to meet with anyone in need, all they have to do is give me a call,” Doucette said. “We have coats, jackets and blankets if those items are needed as well.
“Our goal is to make sure every child in need has a toy on Christmas. We are here to help in any way that we can. With COVID-19 on the rise, this has been a difficult year for everyone, and the holidays can be incredibly stressful,” said Doucette. “Everyone is kept confidential. All you have to do is drive up and pull through.”
The Salvation Army would like to say a big thank you to the First United Methodist Church, Dollar General and Happy State Bank. Without them this event would not be possible.
