When the weather changed, and the ice storm blew in on Monday night, Oct. 26, Lockney and Floydada residents lost trees due to the heavy ice and freezing weather. Residents of both towns experienced loss of electricity and wireless telephone service. The City of Lockney, City of Floydada and Xcel Energy crews worked long hours in the severe cold weather to get their customers’ service restored. Lighthouse Electric crews were still working as of Friday, Oct. 30, to get services restored.
