Anacleta Martinez Charles

On October 22, 2020, Heaven opened up and received Anacleta Martinez Charles into the heavenly kingdom.

Graveside service were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the Lockney Cemetery.  Rosary was held at 7 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2020 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.

Anacleta was born July 13, 1927 to Paulino Martinez and Jacinta Vargas in Bryan, Texas.  During her childhood she worked and played alongside her sisters, Benencia Martinez, Valeriana Rodriguez and her brother, Simon Martinez.  They all enjoyed the farm life with farm animals and chores, and normal everyday life along the Brazos River.

While coming up to West Texas to work in the cotton fields, she met the man that would be her husband of 54 years, Jose Maria Charles.  On April 1, 1956, they married.  Together they raised three boys, Jose M. Charles, Jr., Jaime Charles, and Jacob M. Charles in Lockney, Texas.  Anacleta was a devout Catholic and a member of the Womans Guadalupanas group at the church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paulino Martinez; her mother, Jacinta Vargas; her husband, Jose Maria Charles; her sisters, Benancia Martinez and Valeriana Rodriguez; and her brothers, Zacarias Martinez and Simon Martinez.

Anacleta is survived by her grandchildren, Monica Salas, husband, Daniel and their children, Donavan and Drew; Adam Charles, wife, Roxy Granado and their children, Ariana and Ilyana; Briana King, husband, Joseph and their children, Peyton and Ellie.  Anacleta is also survived by her grandson, Matthew F. Charles, William Charles and by her loving niece, who was always at her side in her later years, Virginia M. Valdez.  She also leaves behind countless cousins, nieces and nephews as well.
