Students from Floydada ISD and Lockney ISD head back to school, excited about the first day. Floydada students’ first day was Monday, Aug. 17, and Lockney students started on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Students have been out of school since the 2019 spring break due to the COVID-19 virus. Teachers at both schools had COVID-19 precautions and screenings in place for all students on the first day. Each day students and staff go through the same screening before allowed inside. Floydada Collegiate ISD Superintendent Dr. Gilbert Trevino reported that the total enrollment of FCISD is 692 (as of Aug. 20). Of that total, 101 are remote learning students with 591 in-class learning students. (The Hesperian-Beacon/Teresa Bigham, Photos courtesy of Monica Smith, and Courtesy photos).
