Dear Editor,
It is disgraceful how awful the “Centennial Plaza on the Y” looks. Lots of hard work and money went into making something pretty and it was pretty for a while.
The Pride Organization was a group of concerned citizens, who wanted our town to be cleaned up and looked like we cared. It was a non-profit funded by donations of citizens, former citizens and people who attended the Floydada School System and those who just wanted to help. They bought bricks and granite pavers with their family names engraved on them.
Businesses also donated money.
Wonder what they think now when they come back to visit?
Several members of Pride had been tending to it. After years went by and the current caretakers quit, it was my understanding that the EDC director was going to take care of it. So much for that!
I have not noticed another town in our area that their welcome area looks like this. Floydada you should be ashamed!
