LOCKNEY- The City of Lockney has placed residents on stage 3 water restrictions.
The water restrictions apply to all City of Lockney customers.
The days that each resident is permitted to water is determined by the last numerical digit in their street address.
If the last digit of the home address is an odd number, watering is allowed on Tuesdays and Fridays. If the last digit of the home address is an even number, watering is permitted on Mondays and Thursdays.
Both groups must follow these rules:
No watering on Sunday, Wednesday or Saturdays by either group.
Irrigation of landscaped areas with hand-held water hose, hose end sprinklers and automatic sprinklers controlled manually is permitted between the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and midnight only on designated watering days and if the wind is blowing less than 15 miles per hour.
Use of water to wash motor vehicles, motorcycles, boats, trailers, airplanes or any other vehicles is prohibited except on designated watering days between the hours of 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. until midnight if the wind is blowing less than 15 miles per hour. Washing of any of these items, when allowed, shall be done with a handheld bucket or handheld hose equipped with a shut off nozzle for quick rinses.
Vehicle washing may be done at any time on the premises of a commercial car wash or commercial service station. Vehicle washing may be exempted from these regulations if the health, safety and welfare of the public are contingent upon frequent vehicle cleaning, such as garbage trucks and vehicles used to transport food and perishables.
Operations of any ornamental fountains or ponds for aesthetic or science purpose is prohibited expect where necessary to support aquatic life to where such fountains or ponds are equipped with a recirculation system.
Use of water to fill, refill or add to any indoor or outdoor swimming pool, wading pool or jacuzzi type pool is prohibited except on designated watering days between the hours of 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and midnight.
Use of water from hydrants or flush valves shall be limited to maintaining public health, safety and welfare.
The following use of water is defined as nonessential and prohibited:
• Washing down any sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, and other hard surfaced areas.
• Use of water to wash down building or structures for purpose other than immediate fire protection
• Use of water for dust control
• Flushing gutters or permitting water to run or accumulate in any gutter or street
• Failure to repair a controllable leak with a reasonable period after having been given notice directing the repair of such leak and any waste of water.
Water customers and other users of water provided by the City of Lockney that do not comply shall be subject to the following penalties:
First violation is a $25 fine
Second violation is a $250 fine
Each additional violation will be $1,000.
Penalties will be added to the customer’s monthly water bill and will be subject to current payment penalties and disconnect procedures.
