Douglas Melvin Johnson, 64, left this earth Saturday, July 4, 2020 to live on the lake in a cabin made just for him.
He was born February 1, 1956, in Crosbyton, Texas.
He lived in the community of South Plains, Texas until moving with his family to Floydada, Texas in 1966. He lived and died in Floydada, in the first home he had there.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., July 25, 2020 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Floyd County.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral home in Floydada
After graduating from Floydada High School, he began to work for Floyd County as a road maintainer. He worked there until he retired in 2008 to care for his aging parents and an aunt and uncle.
He enjoyed yard work, cooking, exercising, playing games, weather- watching, and fishing. He always enjoyed a good visit with friends and acquaintances, especially at whatever “store” he happened to be in.
He was a member and Deacon of Bible Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Windle and Thelma Johnson and an infant sister, Tina, and an uncle and aunt that he took care of, Otis and Elizabeth Johnson.
He is survived by sisters, Jody (Tommy) Robinson and Vickie Upton; his nieces, Shanna (Joe) Rockwell, Misti Agee (Bill) Savory, and Stephanie Upton; his nephews, Scott (Kim) Upton and Jeremy (Leslie) Agee; his great-niece, Hayley (Jordan) Hadden; his great-nephews, Cody Upton, Dylan Rockwell, Jordan Rockwell, and Andrew Upton; a great-great niece, Madilyn Upton; and great-great nephews, Noah Upton and Kason Agee, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
