FLOYDADA –The number of customers at the Wild Hare Salon will soon multiply with the addition hairstylist Melanie Savage.
The Wild Hare Salon, owned by Lori Mickey, is a hair salon with a spa atmosphere located in downtown Floydada next door to Cathy’s Floral shop.
Mickey and Savage are long-time friends.
“I’ve known Lori at least 10 years,” Savage said. “She has inspired me. I am excited to be here. I love small towns. I can’t wait to get to know everyone here.”
Savage graduated from Wade Gordon Hair Dressing Academy in Lubbock May 10, and she took the test June 9. She started at The Wild Hare the next day.
Having grown up in Monroe, Louisiana, Savage moved to Lubbock with her mom and stepdad when she was a teenager. Some years later she met and married her husband, Jason, and moved to Plainview. The couple have two children, 16-year-old son Nathaniel and 10-year-old daughter Shilo.
A retired dog groomer, Savage said she needed a change in life.
“I love making people feel great about themselves. I am a people person who enjoys seeing people happy. Becoming a hair stylist was a natural thing for me,” she said. “I am taking walk in appointments or you are welcome to message me on Facebook or book an appointment through the app Venmo.” The salon is currently open 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
Savage said she has a passion for what creative hair color ¬– bright, vibrant colors.
“I couldn’t remember the last time I wore my natural hair color, until about six months ago.”
Savage said she is excited to serve the citizens of Floyd County and looks forward to getting to know everyone.
