FLOYDADA – Floydada High School’s top two graduates for 2020 are Azalea Garza and Emily Cisneros.
Valedictorian Azalea Garza graduated with a 5.37307 GPA and Salutatorian Emily Cisneros posted a 5.23076 GPA
Garza is the daughter of Juan and Nancy Garza.
Her honors and accomplishments earned at Floydada High School were being named to the 2020 FHS Who’s Who, and the 2020 FHS Academic Top Ten.
She was a member of the National Honor Society where she was vice-president her junior year and treasurer her senior year.
Garza received the 2019-2020 Fighting Lady Wind award. She was also voted as the 2019 Football Sweetheart.
She was a State and National Qualifier in Business Professionals of America (BPA) her freshman through her senior year, was elected as the senior class president, sophomore class president and junior class vice-president.
Garza was involved in the Floydada High School One-Act Play her freshman year where she received honorable mention and was chosen to the All-Star Cast her sophomore year.
She played on the Lady Winds basketball team where she was named to the 2020 Academic All-State Basketball team. She was also a two-time regional qualifier in track and tennis.
Her other activities in school were being involved on the student council and in cheerleading. She was also a member of the Thespian Society.
Garza was recognized as the National Woman’s Hispanic Scholar her senior year. She graduated with a total of 27 dual credit hours.
Garza will be attending West Texas A&M University in the fall of 2020 to major in special education and social sciences.
Emily Cisneros is the daughter of Roel and Esmeralda Cisneros.
Her honors and accomplishments earned while at Floydada High School were being named to the 2020 FHS
Academic Top Ten, the 2020 FHS Who’s Who and was president of the National Honor Society.
Cisneros was a State Qualifier in Business Professionals of America (BPA) and an UIL Regional Qualifier.
She played on the Lady Winds Basketball team where she was named to the 2020 Academic All-State team.
Cisneros played on the Lady Winds Softball team where she received the honor of being named on the All-District
1st Team as a designated hitter and to the All-District 2nd Team as an outfielder.
During her 4 years at Floydada High School she was involved in the student council and UIL.
She graduated with a total of 27 dual credit hours.
Cisneros will be attending Texas Tech University to pursue a degree in biochemistry with a specialty in forensic science.
