FLOYDADA – Giovanna Batres opened her first store front in April. She is the owner of Whirlwind Nutrition located in Floydada.
“I wanted to have a name that resonated with the town,” said Batres. “We want everyone to know that we are here to contribute to our city and community.”
She grew up in Plainview and moved to Floydada where she raises her three children.
“My kids are full of life and keep me on my toes,” said Batres. “That’s why I started this business.”
At Whirlwind Nutrition, a variety of drinks and shakes are prepared for while customers wait. There is a choice of teas or shakes. The difference in the two are the teas are a made of clean safe energy that gives a boost of vitamin B12. Other vitamins and nutrients are added that help to keep immune systems built up. They help fight off illnesses and have the good things that help people stay focused.
“The best thing about these teas they are not so strong that you get the shaky effects and you don’t hit an energy crash,” said Batres.
The shakes are a meal replacement that can help people lose, maintain or gain weight.
“We customize our products to what goals you are wanting to achieve,” she said. “Our bestselling shakes are banana nut or fruity pebbles flavors. In the energy drinks I’d say Captain America or the Joe Exotic are the most popular right now.”
Whirlwind Nutrition got started after Batres signed up for a weight loss challenge, and she loved the results so much she decided she could turn her success in the challenge into a business. She decided to sign up as a distributor of Herbalife, and Whirlwind Nutrition was formed.
“I am very thankful for all the support and business during these first weeks of being opened,” she said. “I also can’t wait to keep providing everyone with tasteful nutritional options.”
