FLOYDADA – On Wednesday, May 13 the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department received a call of a barn fire. “The call came in at 8:19 a.m.,” said Chief of Police, Reuban Ramon.
The barn and round hay bales are owned by Jason Pyle. While a lot of the hay that was being stored inside the barn was destroyed, about half was saved.
The barn is located on east Houston Street/Hwy 70 behind the old Red X building. A group of farmers with tractors (with hay-forks) helped pull the hay bales out of the barn onto a vacant lot.
With smoke thick in the air, Lockney and Dougherty Volunteer Fire Departments responded to help our local fire department completely contain the fire.
At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
