FLOYDADA – Floydada High School senior Emily Cisneros was recently notified of her selection as a South Plains Generation TX scholar.
Cisneros received a total amount of $1,000 to aid her in her studies this coming fall where she plans to major in biochemistry with a minor in forensic science at Texas Tech University. She was chosen among a competitive poll of students across the South Plains based on her extracurricular activities, awards and her “how will you use your college education to make the world a better place” essay.
According to its website, GenTX is a statewide, grassroots movement promoting a culture of college and career readiness leading to the most successful generation ever. All over Texas, students are finding their voices, setting strong goals and fueling the movement called Generation Texas. Through both inspiration and information, Generation Texas connects students to each other and clarifies the steps they need to take on the path to college and career education, from taking the right classes and tests to applying to colleges to finding the money to pay for school.”
Along with receiving this scholarship, Cisneros was also invited to the annual scholarship breakfast which was canceled due to the coronavirus threat. Nonetheless, her selection as a GenTx scholar shows her commitment to her studies and promising future.
Congratulations Emily! Very well deserved.
