The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be holding the Caprock Beef Cattle Conference on March 26 in Muncy. The event is presented by the AgriLife Extension offices of Floyd and Hale counties.
The cost is $25, which includes a lunch of New York steak and homemade cheesecake. The event will start with registration, donuts and coffee at 8 a.m. at the Floyd County Friends Unity Center, 990 Farm-to-Market Road 786.
Speakers will present from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Two general Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units are available. There will also be exhibits and booths.
“This conference will bring folks the latest information about cattle care and calving,” said Mark Carroll, AgriLife Extension agent, Floyd County. “I hope area producers take advantage of this great opportunity to learn from and ask questions of some of our top AgriLife Extension cattle experts.”
Topics and speakers will include:
- Cattle Pest Management– Blayne Reed, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management agent, Hale and Swisher counties.
- Protein Supplements for Grazing Cattle– Jason Smith, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist, Amarillo.
- Calving Procedures– Juan Pineiro, DVM, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension dairy specialist, Amarillo.
- Silage Production in Water-Limited Environments– Jourdan Bell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension agronomist, Amarillo.
