FLOYDADA – On Monday, Feb. 17 Floydada Volunteer Fire Department held their annual dinner and announced their annual firefighter awards.
The award of Fireman of the Year and Rookie of the Year went to Austin Campbell.
Campbell joined the volunteer fire department in the fall of 2018. “I came to a point in my life where I felt like I needed to giving back to my community. This is where I grew up; this is home to me and my fiancée. This is me showing the community and everyone that I’m proud of our town and the people that live here,” said Campbell.
Campbell graduated from Floydada High School in 2001then moved to Lubbock, for about 12 years. He decided moving home was the best option for him. He began farming with his dad Gale Campbell upon his return home.
Austin’s mom Adeana Kiely and stepdad, Don Kiely live in Kyle, Texas, just south of Austin. “Because family is everything I visit as often as I can,” said Campbell.
In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and fishing, spending time outdoors and of course spending time with the love of his life, Lori Mickey. In fact, Austin and Lori got engaged the earlier part of February.
The Floyd County Hesperian-Beacon would like to say congrats and thank you for your service to our community.
