Shirley Jo (Edwards) Varner, age 80, passed away in her home in Floydada on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2019 at Trinity Assembly of God in Floydada.
Interment followed at the Floyd County Memorial Park.
Visitation was held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Shirley was born September 19, 1939 to Omega Guy and Virgie Lee Goldie (Watts) Edwards in Bob Town, Texas. Shirley was the youngest of six.
She married the love of her life Marvin Rainey Varner November 24, 1960. They made their home in Floydada, Texas, with their two daughters, Virginia and Sabrina.
Shirley was a homemaker and stay at home mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. During her spare time she was an active member of Companions N Caring, and a charter member of Trinity Church of Floydada. Shirley also sang with Jubilee and attended First Baptist Church of Floydada.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Rainey Varner, daughter, Virginia Pauline Dechant, parents, Omega Guy and Virgie Edwards, brothers, Wally Ben and Guy Edwards, and two sisters, Grace Williams and Deloris Smith.
Shirley leaves behind a daughter, Sabrina and husband, Bobby Emert of Mounds, Oklahoma; grandson, Chris Dechant and wife, Melinda of Wolfforth, Texas; granddaughter, Amanda and husband, David Johnston of Floydada; grandson, Eric Emert and wife, Christina of Mounds, Oklahoma; and grandson, Joshua Emert and wife, Nelly of Oklahoma. Shirley also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Hanna Hernandez, Blake Arebalo, Megan Dechant, Tyler Dechant and Payton Arebalo; brother, Leo Edwards of Weatherford, Texas, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
