Gleva (Ratjen) Smith

Gleva (Ratjen) Smith, 86, of Floydada, passed away peacefully after a non-complaining battle with Parkinson’s on October 8, 2019 in Floydada, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Floydada. Bob Dupont and Jake Galvan officiated.

Interment followed at Floyd County Memorial Park.  Visitation was held from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Gleva was born on March 15, 1933 in Plainview, Texas. She was married to Billie Jo Smith on August 27, 1950, at her parent’s home.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School secretary for many years. Gleva worked in a variety of jobs while raising three kids, supported the family farming business, and dabbled in art, crafts, and riding motorcycles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rubie Ratjen.
Gleva is survived by her husband of 69 years, Billie Jo Smith, of Floydada; her son, Victor Smith and wife, Phyllis of Floydada and their two daughters, Joni Smith and her children, Finn and Conrad Thomlinson and Maddox Morris of Lubbock, and daughter, Shonda Smith and her daughter, Corina Smith of Lubbock; her daughter, Debra Jo Smith of Floydada and her children, AJ Fawver of Lubbock, Lewis Fawver and wife, Abby, and their children, Grace, Faith, and Bliss Fawver, all of Whitharral; and her son, Johnny Smith and wife, Reggie of Floydada, their sons Kevin Smith of Floydada, and Kody Smith and his wife, Lexie of Amarillo, and their daughter, Marley Smith, of Amarillo; her twin sister, Gloria Eden of Dallas, and her sister, Ardis Daniel of Floydada.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor`s choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Beehive of Shepherd’s Meadow for their outstanding care.
