Roy Alton Rose was born on September 5, 1929 in Grannis, Arkansas to Robert and Willie Rose. He passed away on July 30, 2019 in Canton, Texas.
Mr. Rose spent his career as a funeral director and funeral homeowner in West Texas. He first became a licensed funeral director in the early sixties, by the time he retired he owned five funeral homes.
He was an avid reader and faithfully read his bible. He was a storyteller by nature who always loved to visit with family and friends. Above all, he enjoyed his family and was so proud of them.
Serving as pallbearers were Karter Broyles, Jordan Matthews, Kyle Rose-Peterson, Luke Rose, Noah Ingram, Don Baxter, and Tim Plunkett.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, Texas. Rev. Ken Jones and Johnny Morris officiated.
Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens, Texas.
Visitation was held at 5-7 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Alton is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances Rose, son, Rex Alton Rose, and his parents and siblings.
Mr. Rose is survived by his children, Tim Rose and wife, Pat of Canton, Kim Rose and wife, Tina of Athens, Carol Sego and husband, Richard of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Bill Casey and wife, Pat of Athens; grandchildren, Tina Ingram and husband, Kris of Canton, Chad Rose and wife, Kristin of Canton, Kristi Rose Broyles of Canton, Kandi Matthews and husband, Larry of Palestine, and Kari Perez and husband, Phillip of Palestine; great-grandchildren, Drew Ingram, Noah Ingram, Luke Rose, Claire Rose, Kyle Rose-Peterson, Karter Broyles, Kamdyn Broyles, Jordan Matthews, Maesyn Matthews, and Ava Perez.
