Beloved Mother and wife, Odessa Alean Riddley, age 91 of Amarillo, was called home on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Lockney.
Interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was held from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
Odessa was born April 27, 1928 to Joe and Lucielle (Clark) Bass in McKinney, Texas. Odessa graduated from Prairie View College where she became a beautician and was Valedictorian of her class.
She was married for 62 years to her husband, Louis Riddley. She was blessed with seven children: daughters, Janice, Maryland and Diana; and sons, Steve, Morris, Clint and Danny. Odessa loved singing, cooking, reading her Bible and fishing. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her. She was always there when you needed her. She was an intricate part of raising her grandchildren, Cynthia Borden of Colorado and Phineas Riddley of Oklahoma. She passed on to all her descendants the ethics of hard work and dedication. She was the foundation of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis, her daughter, Maryland K. Riddley Walker of Lockney, and her sister, Josephine Riddley.
Odessa is survived by six of her children, Janice Riddley Jones, Diana Riddley Fox, Clint Riddley and Danny Riddley, all of Amarillo and Steve Riddley and Morris Riddley of Plainview; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins, who will all miss her greatly.
