Jerry Davis, age 78, of Lockney, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Amarillo. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney. Kyle Brock officiated.
Interment followed at the Lockney Cemetery where he was to rest next to Dovie, his wife of 58 years.
Family visitation was held from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
A lifelong resident of Floyd County, Jerry was born May 9, 1940 on the family farm east of Sterley, Texas. He was the last of six children born to Mason Oliver Davis and Fannie McWhorter. He graduated Lockney High School with the class of 1958.
He married Dovie Carol Auld November 13, 1959 in Amarillo. Jerry began farming the family homestead soon after. He retired from farming and the agriculture chemical business in 2000.
Jerry loved working on old cars. His favorite projects were a 1931 Model A Ford, a hot rod he affectionately called “Spot,” and a 1952 Chevy pickup he still tinkered with until his passing.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dovie, brothers, Edward and Kenton Davis and a sister, Kathryn Foraker Smith.
He is survived by brothers Thurman and Loy, his three children, Randy Scott Davis and wife, Heather Peck, Joey Todd Davis and wife, Shanon Wilks, Julie Diann May and husband, Rodney. Also survived by grandchildren, Gregory, Wes, Jake, Kray, and Holt Davis, Levi and Emily Weckar. He leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Connor, Gemma, and Mason Davis, Braxton and Beckham Weckar, Tyrese and Ella Lankford, and Mav Pettigrew.
