Vernon Lee “Jack” Wickware

Vernon Lee “Jack” Wickware, age 66, of Floydada passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 after a long battle with COPD and has finally gotten his wings.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Floydada.

Interment followed at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Vernon was born in Cherokee County, Texas, on July 23, 1952 to Enoch and Lucille (Henderson) Wickware.

Vernon worked in construction which brought him to West Texas, where he met Dorothy Nell White. Jack loved working on vehicles so much it became a fulltime job. Jack and Dorothy’s love would lead to a marriage in 1976 that would last 42 years. When Jack had free time, he loved to spend it with his grandchildren.

Jack was a loving husband, father, uncle, cousin, friend and a helping hand to all around him.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother and father, eight siblings, Vernell Wickware, Clotile Glenn, Enoch Wickware, Jr., Annabelle Wickware, David Wickware, John Amos Wickware, Baby Boy Wickware, and Jocis Nell Washington; and grandson, Shacory Devian Acy.

Vernon (Jack) Wickware is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nell (White) Wickware; his children, Vernon L Ramirez, Jerimiah R. McCann, Brandon L Wickware, Jermaine D. Wickware, and Enoch C. Wickware; 24 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
