Peggy Joyce Hallmark was born in Quanah, Texas, on August 16, 1937. She grew up primarily in Hamlin, Texas (in a sheet-rock mill community called Celotex).

She graduated from Hamlin High School, then attended North Texas University for six years, receiving her master’s degree in business education.

Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Dub Hallmark, on September 6, 1958. She and Dub taught in Amarillo and Big Spring before moving to Lockney in 1968 with one-year old Brent in tow. A couple of years later she had a son, Todd. Peggy taught business classes (accounting, typing and shorthand) and was the yearbook sponsor for many years. She was a passionate supporter of Lockney athletics and extracurricular activities.

Peggy was a member of the Baptist church in Lockney and continued to be involved with her college sorority, Kappa Delta. She retired from teaching in Lockney in 1994 to begin her second occupation as Memaw. Over the next 20-plus years Peggy and Dub traveled near and far, watching the grandkids play sports and whatever else they were involved in.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, William “Dub” Hallmark; her parents, Floyd and Johnnie Briscoe; and her brother, Jerry.

Peggy is survived by her children and their spouses, Brent and Tammi and Todd and Shana along with grandkids, Dion, JoLynn, and Kaley and Kennedy and Bryson. She has one great-grandchild, Devin. She is also survived by her one sister-in-law, Donna Hall of Abilene.
